The Author
Ordained as a minister in 1994, Mae D. Williams earned a doctorate in special education from the
University of Connecticut and is presently an assistant professor of special education at Saint
Joseph College in Connecticut. She lives in Bloomfield, Connecticut, with her husband and three daughters.
When asked how her call to minister relates to her work in special education, Mae relates:
"All people have needs, whether to learn to read or to be assisted in relating to God. My work in each
of these areas is very relational, and requires that I be transparent to my adult students and to church
members."
