About Mae WilliamsAbout Mae Williams
Mae Williams has been in ministry for more than half of her life. Called to minister at the age of
fourteen years, she received her training in ministry through the Church of the Living God. While she
matured, she served as bible teacher and associate minister. Ordained in 1994, she has since served as
worship leader, mentor of aspiring ministers, and associate pastor.
Mae earned a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education, a master's degree in educational leadership and doctorate in special education. She has served as a teacher to children with disabilities for eleven years. Currently she serves as assistant professor at Saint Joseph College, a small private college in West Hartford, Connecticut. When asked how her call to minister relates to her work in special education, Mae relates:
"All people have needs, whether to learn to read or to be assisted in relating to God. My work in each of these areas is very relational, and requires that I be transparent to my adult students and to church members.
"Here of late I have found that I am being led to focus on praying for and writing to an audience of ministers and people who are involved in church leadership. I have become increasingly sensitive to their weariness, and hope my work will be a blessing and offer times of refreshing. In a day when ministers are being looked upon with increasing distrust, they need a continual reminder that they are loved of God, and that they can do the work of the ministry which pleases God."
Mae makes herself available to offer small retreats for church leaders. Most recently she has been called upon to offer mini-retreats to ministers in high-stress positions. Her dream is to build a retreat house in which church leaders can find rest, reflection and renewal.
